ControlNet Course Modules

This module provides an introduction of what DeviceNet is; including terminology and the tools required to work with DeviceNet. The student will learn about a DeviceNet cable system. The student will be able to locate the DIP switches on a 1771-SDN, interpret and set the switches for node number, baud rates and addressing mode and interpret the diagnostic indicators for each channel as well as the status and fault indicators. The next lesson deals with RSLinx - DeviceNet and moves on to reviewing RSNetworx software and how to use the help system to assist you in troubleshooting a network. To finish, the student will understand how the 1771-SDN module communicates to the PLC and understand the function of the various block transfer lengths in communicating to the PLC.

In this module, the student will be introduced to the Flex I/O system and the components required to use Flex I/O on DeviceNet. The student will then review hardware, configuration of hardware in RSNetworx and the diagnostic features that are available. Device setup and commissioning for devices that have no DIP switches will also be reviewed. In the troubleshooting lesson the student will be able to demonstrate skills learned in previous lessons and apply their knowledge. To conclude this module you will review how to configure the 1771-SDN scanner for ADR and AAR operation.
