Module 1

Upon completion of this module, graduates will have the following knowledge and skills:
  • Understand the benefits of OPC and understand and be able to explain the various OPC specification including Data Access, Historical Data Access and Alarms & Events.
  • Install and configure OPC servers & clients and Test OPC connections
  • Understand the client/server architecture
  • Know the levels of redundancy, their affects on the system and how to integrate it
  • Integrate archives and analyze data using OPC HDA  and Configure remote OPC connections

  • Be empowered with an understanding of networking concepts and how they effect OPC systems
  • Recognize, identify, and solve various networking problems through common symptoms
  • Understand the inner workings of DCOM and learn how to set or restore an OPC system’s DCOM configuration
  • Identify problems related to interoperability
  • Learn how to optimize an OPC solution to maximize the performance and stability of the system
  • Build an OPC Toolbox using troubleshooting techniques through various OPC technologies
