Course Outline

Module 1

This module introduces the student to the hardware that can be used with the TwinCAT 3 software and then explores the programming environment. Next, the student will learn how to activate a configuration, change a system mode and start/stop a program. Scanning I/O into a project follows along with variables and creating and linking addressed variables. The module concludes with archiving, importing and exporting.

Module 2

This module starts with an overview of ladder logic basics followed by relay type instructions. Next, the student will learn how to edit ladder, login and apply changes and use shortcuts. The student will know, understand and recognize structured text and learn to edit structured text and the common layouts. Forcing and manipulating data concludes the module.

Module 3

This module explores timers and counters and then moves on to arrays where the student will learn how to create an array and understand the addressing. Next, instruction data types are covered along with creating user defined data types. To conclude the module the student will select, configure and interpret compare and math instructions.

Module 4

This module begins with a discussion on documentation and then the student will learn to interpret and edit program control instructions, as well as, create and use a function. Next, the student will create and use their own Function Blocks followed by creating a scope project and adding variables to an axis and monitoring them. To round out the module searching and cross reference is covered finishing with troubleshooting.
